Bill Phillips' Eating for Life

Bill Phillips Eating for Life Plan at eDiets is a program based on the three B’s: basic, balanced and best. The human body needs protein, carbohydrates and essential fats and we just need to find the combination that works best for us.

According to Phillips, “Eating for life is based on feeding the body rather than starving it. A lot of the old diets were based on the idea of reducing food intake…now we’re realizing it’s the quality of food…in the right portions and right combinations.”

WHY IT WORKS

Eating for Life is a balanced approach to eating which allows for food from all groups. Following the proven plan will result in a weight loss of 1 to 2 pounds of body fat per week. It also produces more energy and results in less of an emotional battle with food.

The really unique part of this food plan is that it allows for a ‘cheat’ day every week. If deprivation is your undoing, this cheat day can provide a break from the rules and allow you to enjoy the foods you love.

A big part of Phillips’ approach is fitness, as seen in his first program Body for Life. According to Phillips, “People need to look at becoming healthy and fit instead of just losing weight. Your aspiration should be making your body fit, strong and energetic instead of smaller.” This means exercising 20 minutes, 5 days a week.

WHAT YOU’LL EAT

Just about anything! Beef, poultry, fish, eggs, reduced-fat dairy, whole-grain pastas, bread and rice are all on the menu as well as a wide variety of vegetables. Many favorites such as Mexican and Italian are okay as are American traditionals such as steak and potato.

BOTTOM LINE

Any plan that includes choices from all food groups, emphasizes fat loss and incorporates regular exercise has the potential to succeed and deliver long term results.
